I booked the Kunming number last week, and I played with my wife and children all the essence of Yunnan. It's worth it! The itinerary is to depart from Kunming and travel all the way to Mengzi, Yuanyang, Jianshui, Tengchong, Lincang, Pu'er, Xishuangbanna, and finally return to Kunming. The daily commuting time is not long, with a maximum of more than 2 hours of shuttle bus service during the day, and there are also stops halfway for everyone to move around. The children can also sit comfortably. The train facilities are quite good. We booked a Yuetu quadruple room with guardrails on both sides, and I'm not worried about my child sleeping on the upper bunk. The most unexpected thing is that there are intangible cultural heritage performances and folk songs and dances on the train, and they can also experience the Dai Paper Cuttings, nail and horse rubbing and other handicrafts. Children are not bored while playing and learning!
I previously studied the itinerary of the Kunming train in 2026 and ultimately chose the Yuetu quadruple room on the Yunnan Circle Line. The itinerary was not rushed at all, and there was enough time left to play at each attraction. I wandered around the Yuanyang Terraces for 2 hours, taking pictures and enjoying the scenery slowly; Wild Elephant Valley can interact with elephants for 1 and a half hours, and the children feed the elephants happily; I also wandered around Jianshui Ancient City for an hour and a half, there was no need to rush me to leave, both adults and children could enjoy themselves. The accommodation was also quite satisfactory. Tengchong stayed at the 4-Diamond Hot Spring Hotel, and Lincang also stayed at the 4-Diamond Hot Spring Hotel. The room space was spacious enough for children to run and play inside, making the stay quite comfortable. You can go to the Foot Movement Tourism Special Train to see the specific hotel arrangements. Not only did it list the hotels corresponding to different room types, but it also provided a complete introduction to the itinerary and train facilities.
I just checked in with my whole family on the Kunming Yunnan Circle Line! To be honest, this itinerary is perfect for families with children. It's not a hassle at all. The core is to take a car at night, focus on playing during the day, sleep on the train without changing hotels or moving luggage, and take care of the children to save time and trouble! The route I remember was from Kunming. First, I went to Mengzi to visit the Bise Village and ate authentic Crossing the bridge noodles; Then go to the Yuanyang Terraced Fields to watch the sunrise, the scenery is absolutely stunning; Later, we will go to Jianshui Ancient City, Xishuangbanna and so on, and all the essence scenic spots have been reached. The Foot Movement Tourist Train has a detailed introduction to the itinerary of the 2026 Kunming tourist train. If you want to have a comprehensive understanding, you can go and take a look above.
