This summer, I took the Shifang tourist train with my college classmates on our graduation trip. We registered for the exclusive Purple Gold Quadruple Room on the official website of the Zudong Tourist Train, which was like living in a dormitory with bunk beds. It was quite interesting! Our itinerary starts from Chengdu and travels all the way to Xinjiang. After visiting the designated attractions, we take a train back to Chengdu.
The Shifang tourist train also has different travel routes, with different starting and ending points for each route. For example, this year when I went to Xinjiang with friends, we boarded the train directly at our doorstep in Chengdu to start our journey! Drive northwest through Lanzhou and arrive in Kashgar, starting the official journey to Xinjiang from the ancient city of Kashgar! The whole line spans across the north and south of Xinjiang, visiting cultural attractions such as Kashgar Ancient City and Xiangfei Garden, as well as checking in popular attractions such as Sailimu Lake, Bayinbuluke, and Nalati. Personally, I prefer Wucaitan and Hemu Village, and the Kanas Cruise is a relatively novel experience! I also visited the Flame Mountain and Karez Well that I learned in my junior high school textbooks! It's like a circular tour, and after the trip is over, you can return to Chengdu, which is very worry free!
